Itinerary

Day 1Arrival & Akwaaba Dinner

Get picked up from the Airport to the hotel. Rest for a bit and get ready for an official welcome dinner to get acquainted with one another over dinner together. 

Day 2Adventure-Nature

  • Discover the cozy peaks of the eastern region starting with a date with nature, exploring and learning about exotic plants such as nutmeg and the curry and not forgetting the picturesque

 

  • Visit the craft village of Aburi and explore one of the most creative communities in Ghana, this tour allows you to explore the different craft workshops, learn about carvings and perhaps carve your very own key chain or make your very own wood souvenir.

 

  • Head to the 30 meters high waterfalls comprising of the male and female waterfall with the pool at the base. Take a 90mins nature hike to the umbrella rock with some fascinating rocks along the way like the big foot rock and the bad rock

Day 3Walking City Tour & Nighlife

  • Have a tour of Accra starting from the W.E.B DUBOIS CENTER THEN downtown Accra and enjoy the vibrant and colorful oxford street with a shopping stop at the Global Mama’s then have an episode with ostriches at the ostrich park.
    Feeling Accra isn’t complete without visiting one of Ghana’s picturesque instrumental monument and parade grounds
    Our culture is our way of life and drumming plays a major role in our cultural setting and our tours are all about the Ghanaian experience thus I treat you with danceable drumming sessions as well as drumming lessons.
    Visit the burial grounds of one of one of the pioneers of pan-Africanism and the first president of Ghana
    Have lunch on the beach then have the local market experience for fabric shopping

 

 

  • We hit some of upscale nightclubs, pubs and life band bars in the city as you experience contemporary beats from across Africa .
    Start this evening with a pregame in the hotel then the jazz bar and the night clubs
    After we grab some snacks and head back to the hotel.

Day 4Visit the Kings Palace

An unforgettable trip to the Ashanti region and visit the first palace of one of the most powerful kingdoms in the world. ‘Manhyia which translates- gathering of the people, serves as the central palace for the Asantehene. Explore the unique museum established to commemorate past leaders, and to communicate the richness of our history and culture to future generations.

Have lunch at the cultural center then a tour of then explore the largest open air market in west Africa for a once in a lifetime market experience accompanied with engagements with the market folks.

Day 5Exploring Traditional Treasures

  • Today we visit the adinkra village popular known for adinkra cloth design. Adinkra in the local dialect means “farewell”, the designs are prominent for the proverbial content it carries and was worn only for funerals in the Ashanti Region and produced mainly in black, brown and red. But today it is made in all colors and used throughout Ghana for not only funerals for weddings etc,
    A trip to the adinkra village entails learning about how the dye is extracted for a tree and the process involved in making it, then make your own imprints using the adinkra stamps on your preferred cloth.

 

 

  • Visit the kente village which is the best known of the five original Kente stools and even had a royal patronage in the time of King Osei Tutu and for centuries afterwards the village ‘s most skillful weavers were forbidden from selling to anybody without the express permission of the Ashanti king and it still remains prominent in the making of Kente cloth.
    Kente is a colorful handwoven Ghanaian traditional fabric which is worn mostly on important occasions and celebrations it is believed to be inspired by the craftmanship of the spider in making its webs. Today, stands as a symbol of African culture, heritage and ingenuity not just in Ghana but the entire continent of Africa.
    Today we learn all about the history and the process involved in creating one of Africa’s cultural treasures.

Day 6 Ancestral Slave Route

  • Today we visit the Assin Manso slave river site which served as the place where slaves had their last bath on African soil before being marched down to the slave castles. They were fed and cleaned so they appeared attractive and healthy to guarantee higher prices. And there hot branding iron is used to burn an identifying mark onto the skin of captives. The mark is a scar on the shoulder, the breast or the upper arm to show ownership. Other times, branding was used to show that proper duty had been paid.  it is now a sacred place of remembrance.  it is home for the first  2 diasporas (Lady Crystal from Jamaica and Samuel Carson from New York) whose remains were brought to Ghana through the “door of return” and Reburied. Also remains of African slave defendants front Barbados are buried on the site to symbolize emancipation and reconnection.

 

 

  • The we go back in time in one of Ghana’s historic towns which houses the oldest European building in sub-Saharan Africa which is 537 years old being the first slave castle in Gold coast now Ghana , Elmina town being the headquarters of the Portuguese for 150years and designed to fit the status of Lisbon(Portugal’s capital) played a significant part in the West African slave trade as it acted as depot where enslaved Africans were brought in from different Kingdoms in West Africa. The Africans, often captured in the African interior by the slave-catchers of coastal peoples, were sold to Portuguese and later to Dutch traders in exchange for goods

Day 7 Door of no return

  • First take some time to explore one of Ghana’s endangered species conservatories which shelters about 100 mammals, reptiles and amphibian species ,over 360 bird species, 500 species of Butterflies, over a quarter million species of insects not forgetting the highlight of this nature experience which is the 350meters of 8suspended bridges canopy walkway which reaches the height of 40meters above the forest floor and the first of its kind in Africa to test how adventurous you are or if you’re simply scared of falling and not of heights.

 

  • Head to the second town through the aisle of coconut trees with the turquoise and beautiful ocean guiding you to the “carbo corso” meaning short cape in  portugueese. Cape Coast Castle is the largest of the buildings which contains the legacy of the trans-Atlantic slave . Like most ancient fortifications in Ghana, Cape Coast Castle played a significant role in the gold and slave trades. See the Dalzel Tower, the slave dungeons, and the cannons and mortars used in the Castle’s defense and the door of return and door of return

Day 8 Beach Relaxation
